Brooks Oregon, spring 2009
We have too much fun up here in the northwest, without a doubt! Despite rain that threatened the skies to the north on friday, we are heading into the weekend with only the slightest amount of rain having fallen. Sure, the wind came up to perhaps 10 mph at times, but it was steady and not turbulent, and it has been a great start to what always works out to be a great weekend... If you are anywhere near the Portland area, make sure you make it out here!

Okay... so the rain did come down for maybe half an hour on Saturday, but overall it was a great weekend, and Sunday turned out to be incredible! For some reason, Brooks definitely gets less rain than Portland, the entire weekend it looked like it was storming north of us. We had 88 registered pilots by the time the weekend wrapped up, and the talent this year was very impressive. One of our fixtures in the hobby up here is Russ McCutcheon. Russ flies helis like they are an extension of his own body, and his style is very unique. Russ is a great example of a smooth 3D pilot and he posses some of the best collective management skills out there. During his flights you almost never hear the blades bark or hear the rotor head change speed. We had a few flybarless helicopters tearing up the sky including a few Synergys, a Trex 700 electric conversion, an AHF Aeolus and my Logo 600, all of which were running the V-bar. A few of the Scale guys were running the Skookum SK360 on their multi blade heads.
Tammies Hobbies, DeeTeeEnterprises, FlexPro and HighTech Toys and Hobbies had booths set up. KDE direct, and Real Flight also participated with products for the pilots prize. By the end of the weekend, I was sunburned and tired, but I had a great time! I look forward to seeing everyone again soon in the fall! Last edited by aaronredbaron; 06-23-2009 at 02:11 PM. |
