Is it safe to use a DX6 DSM radio system on a .30 size Nitro heli? A JR Venture.

As long as your heli has a 120 degree swashplate and you're not planning on flying it more than 1000 feet from the transmitter. The transmitter doesn't support 90 degree swash mixing, and the range isn't too good with it being a park flyer radio.

I've used my DX6 on just about everything.. sailplanes, foamies, 3d helis, 90mph microjets, and even a few remote control cars (I have a ton of R6000 receivers and only one receiver for my trigger radio). Never had any problems even with nitro engines being very close to the receiver (someone once told me that engines cause interference, but I doubt that's true with nitro engines because they don't spark).

Make sure to range check it! I've never ever EVER had a range problem with my DX6 (or DX7~<3), but better safe than sorry.

Thanks

I have been using a DX6 and a AR6000 on my blade 400 and I fly it up pretty high and have never had an issue. I've always wondered what the range is for a DSM. I read about alot of guys using them in Sail Planes.

Where you will hit issues with a 6 channel radio on a nitro ship is when you decide to get a governor.
Most govs (not all) need an open channel bringing your channel needs to 7.

I would also check the range very carefully. You can fly a 30 size a lot farther away than a 400.

I wouldn't fly a nitro heli on that radio unless its the 6i, the DX6 with a AR6000, I wouldn't do it.

it's not really a safe bet, the DX6 is meant for a park flyer, so the receiver won't really take all that vibrations well

invest in a DX7 or even an X9303, w/ a wide range of receivers available from spektrum and JR, you can fly ANYthing your heart desire

The DX7 is a fine radio.. and I don't need to say anything about the x9303, obviously..

...but if you have a DX6 and you can't afford to buy the new $300 radio plus $whatever heli, the DX6 will be sufficient. I only recently got a DX7 the replace my DX6, and while I couldn't ever go back now (or at least wouldn't like to), I probably wouldn't be as far in this hobby as I am now if I'd bought it when people told me I "needed" it, because I wouldn't have been able to afford the absolute best radio for whatever model I was currently building. I cannibalized and reused, even when the previous hardware wasn't optimal.

Thats poor, if not dangerous, advice.

I heard that the AR6000 receiver (the old DSM receiver for the old DX6) is not made to power standard size servos. Its circuitry was only meant to handle the current load from 4-5 micro servos.
