How many Honey bee King 2 owners out there?? I just got mine about a month ago, what a different experience from the cx2 I was throwing the sticks all over the place on.

Yeah, I got an HBK2 in April as my first heli. I got it used and it came with all sorts of upgrades so I've been happy with it. Crashed and rebuilt it a handful of times already, but it still flies great.

The HBK2 was my 3rd heli, flys ok alittle shaky so i sold mine to a freind he likes it but he blinged it out pretty good :)

Yep, mines been crashed a few times.. I put the CF blades on there a little to quick. The stucco wall didn't give too much when they hit it! So now I use the wood ones till I et a little better;).

I have had mine for about a month now, bought it used and had to do some minor repair. First Heli was a Fun Piccolo, I really like the HBK2.

I've just bought one and hopefully will get it setup for an indoor fly on Monday night. I attempted to step up from my CX2 to a Blade 400 but found it a bit intimidating.

I'm hoping the lower powered HBK2 will be a little less scary.

I'm considering a HBK as my third helicopter. My first 2 were a Robins 22 Coax and a Honeybee FP. I don't know if I'm going to get a King or a Belt CP. I like the King, except I wish they would update that crappy motor to a brushless!

Yikes, I made the jump from 4-ch to 6-ch and it was still a huge jump :)

That's the only downside I've found with a stock HBK 2; that brushed motor. If they'd sell it with an already installed Esky 3900kv brushless motor, then it'd be a perfect first CP belt driven heli. I really enjoyed flying mine. I've since sold it and moved into a Compy fixed pitch w/belt drive.

When I bought the King II, I was really torn between the Compy FP belt or the King II. I ended up going with the King, for a couple reasons:

1) It's a little bigger
2) Higher headspeed, more stability and more room for expansion later
3) I can buy KingII parts from US dealers so I can get my parts in 2-3 days instead of 1-2 weeks (even have a LHS 30 miles away from me that carries E-Sky parts)

Pricewise they both would have worked out very similar, and everyone I've seen that owns a Compy loves it. Some guys in another forum have King II's and they are converting or have converted them to fixed-pitch machines - kinda like a Big Compy lol

Its my #3 helicopter also It is a low cost helicopter that flies very well and you can also find cnc parts for it fairly cheap too. I also changed out the brushed motor as soon as I got it out of the box and put one of my 26mm outrunners 3800kv 9T. I got the ARF and put my own components in it. I bought as my practice helicopter for trying harder maneuvers instead of risking my nicer 450 to a crash.

How comparable does the K2 fly compared to your 450?

Mine fly real similar to my T-rex sev2, a little smaller and lighter so the wind affects it more.

My Trex is quite a bit smoother and more stable, but the HBK2 isn't that bad either now that I have it pretty much dialed in.

Hey, I've also learned off a CX2 and went straight to the King 2. With the proper upgrades, it's a great little flying machine. I wish I was told about the Honeybee FP first...would have learned a lot more and have an easier time learning how to use the King 2...oh well.

if you can turn back time. would you guys pick the king 2 again??
i think i would get an belt cp instead.

Hindsight is always 20/20 isn't it. I don't think the HBK2 was a bad choice, but if I had it to do over I would have just gone straight to the T-rex and had one heli to maintain instead of two. But judging from the crashes I've had with the HBK2, it would probably have been a more expensive decision. I wasn't even thinking T-rex at the time because I wanted to avoid having to buy large batteries since I didn't use them on any of my planes. But here I am buying them anyway.

So far, I have only had an FP and the King II. If I has to start from scratch, I would likely buy a Belt-CP (but I already had the brushless motor set & radio gear)

Alright, so there are a bunch of people with the popular Honeybee King 2 (including myself). I don't mean to thread jack, but how about something else to talk about that's not too far off topic?
Anyone working on any upgrades on their HBK2? :D

I put a telebee hh gyro on mine, looking at the 43t pulley set. I say HBK2 talk is keeping in line with the thread! I'm also looking to get a couple new lipo's. I have the esky 3800, and I only get about 6 minutes on my stock batteries.

Mine was already upgraded by the previous owner when I bought it:

- Stretched boom, running a T-rex 397T belt.
- 288mm-290mm main blades.
- Telebee gyro.
- Blade 400 main gear.
- T-rex angle battery mount.
- Gorilla Gear
- Gorilla flybar paddles

Since then, I have upgraded with:
- Futaba GY240
- CNC swash and washout

I'm waiting on a pair of new 1500 25C lipos because the ones that came with it are worn out. I considered the Xtreme 43T upgrade for the tail, but since I upgraded the gyro have had no problems with tail drift.

The 43t belt pulley is a must for better tail control. I really think Esky should have made that the stock pulley and not that smaller one they have in the HBK2's now.
That 3800 motor is definitely a battery juice sucker, the stock batteries have never provided enough power for anything but hovering.

Very nice, I use the Blade 400 Main gear as well, works great. My setup is in my signature. The HDX servos were such a pain to get to fit, they're bigger than I expected. I have yet to try them out, I'm still waiting for my DX6i and AR6200 in the mail ;).
So what is a Gorilla gear? Gorilla flybar paddles? They sound tough.

Oops, forgot to mention the Esky 3900 brushless and Dynam 25A ESC. :)

Yeah, almost unbreakable struts, and "programmable" paddles into which you can insert weights to tame them down. I don't know if the paddles are a big deal since you can always put flybar weights on it separately, but the struts are pretty nice. You can get them here (http://www.rchover.com/inc/sdetail/30474). There is also a link to the review by Finless on that page.

My King II:

- Alpha 3500kv (Exceed-RC/Walkera) brushless with 18A (yes, only 18A) Hobbywing ESC, 11T Pinion
- Xtreme 43T pulley & belt (definitely should be an OEM addition)
- cnchelicopter washout arms & base
- Xtreme turnbuckles
- SuperSkids
- Blade 400 main gear
- Walkera WK-0701 7-ch Tx and RK-701 Rx (eBay cheapies)
- el cheapo servos on cyclic, HS-55 on tail
- WK-G011 gyro (crash recovery)

Was going to spring for a Xtreme CF frame, but got such a deal on a RTF Belt-CP that I couldn't pass up - we'll see if I was lucky or stupid soon enough...

Mine runs nicely on the following equipment:

- KD KA400H (3500kv) brushless on a 9T pinion
- Turnigy Basic 18A ESC
- Some no-name 20C 3S1500mAh from HobbyCity.com
- ESky HH gyro (and it's good enough for the kind of flying i can handle)
- Hitec HS55 all around
- Xtreme Turnbuckles

I see it, the Xtreme Turnbuckles are an absolute must-have upgrade for all King and Belt flyers out there as they make your heli's tracking totally and easily adjustable.

I'm currently putting an ESky carbon frame together for my K2. Should be able to find the time for finishing that project any day now. Oh, I've got some SuperSkids that are going on as soon as I put together the Carbon frame.

I just got done throwing a 10t rear pulley in it. Now it's raining.:(

I put a brushless setup in it before I even flew it with a 43t front pulley and belt.

Sublime Snot

The 10t rear pulley seems like a logical upgrade. Apparently I accidentally installed my 43t belt pulley Mod to make it so that my tail rotor actually spins CW and not CCW. I modded the tail a bit to make things work right, but I'm probably going to change it back.

Dude's username is/was rc10junky on RCU - he now has 10 poor ratings (out of 24 total), 4 unresolved complaints, and has been suspended - several others have been bitten, too. I just got a notice from PayPal that he's sent a refund, now I have to wait for the refund to clear his bank and be deposited into my PayPal account.

Look at the positive comments on his account, almost all look like they were written by the same guy...
