Are there any online reviews of the new E-Flite mCX micro heli? I was allowed to test fly one at the LHS and never having flown a helicopter before it all seemed to easy and I was easily hovering and flying around the shop. The tiny size is amazing.

I suppose I should have looked harder and I did find two nice reviews in the E-Flite section on these forums. Oops. :o

I have to say that I was amazed at how well this tiny helicopter flew and how easily I was able to control it. I've flown airplanes for years but not helis yet it was brilliant how easy it was to fly. Even nose-in was no problem.

Yeah, these co-ax's should almost be called "air cars" :D

I bought one, I love almost everything about it.

For "tail in flying" they are almost too easy.

Strictly an indoor flyer or outside .. with NO wind. Havent' tried it outside yet. For my ~12 x 20 living room, it's fast enough to zip around the room, slow enough that you should be able to fly it without hitting anything :)

But the great thing about them, is that you can concentrate on where you want the heli to go, rather than intensely focusing on just keeping the heli from crashing. (Which I assume would be the case with the sub-micro FP helis (I haven't flown a sub-micro / FP yet, so it's just an un-educated guess).

Flying them nose-in, or attempting "non standard" flight, can still be a challenge though.

Spot landings to tiny targets are also challenging, as it gets buffeted around pretty good by the ground efffect turbulence.

They DO take quite a pounding, being so light. I've crashed mine ~20+ times, no mechanical damage.

Just remember to kill the throttle before an imminent crash. I had one crash where I was a bit late on the throttle, and I either loosened / fried a wire ... or something else with one of the motors. Bought a replacement motor and it's flying like new.

The only negative point, and it's a minor one, is that the battery charger is battery operated itself, instead of a "wallmart" adapter. This is strange to me, I guess it was to keep the cost down, but for an extra $20 ???, I would have really liked that a.c. option. I do have rechargeable AA's which I'm using for it though.

I like mine. The kids like it too.
Not near as exciting as my nitro birds, but it's fun to annoy the wife with!:Craven:

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like just the ticket for some indoor (couch potato) flying.

I would like to connect my DX6i and my CX2 tx and let my grandaughter try to fly it. What cable would I need as a trainer. I let her try it and stright to the ceiling.

Carl,

I'm not sure about the cable, try Eflite support : productsupport@horizonhobby.com

How old is your grandaughter?

Unitil you get the cable you could try guiding her hands with both of you holding the sticks at the same time, or you controlling the throttle while she moves the cyclic.

My only complaint about the MCX is that I am getting increasingly shorter flight times out of the Lipo battery.

I got mine last week and love it. It came with an extra battery so I can get some good flying in before recharging. I've got 5 more on the way from here: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8864 For $1.69 each it's a pretty good deal. Word is they're only about 110 mAh like the stock battery but for that price I won't complain.

I'll be investing in a decent charger next.

The 4 port AC charger that comes with the MSR is the ticket, you just have to buy an MSR. And the new 160Mah batteries that are out have some serious oomph! My buddy got a couple and I tried one the other night, a definite improvement over the stock or the 150 Mah.
