I'm looking to buy an inexpensive P&S with video capability to use for both amateur (beginner) A.P. and for videographing my heli flying progress (or lack thereof).
I know a bit about the photographic terminlogy (just enough to be dangerous :D)
Features I'm looking for :
- 10-30 minutes of video recording time (more is always good too !)
What kind of recording time can you get with a 2gig SD card at 640x480 30 fps ?
Will the batteries even last long enough to max out the SD card?
Will the camera overheat / be capable of recording continuously?
What minimum SD cards specs should I be looking for for video?
- indoor recording without flash (using room lighting).
I guess "ISO" rating and lens aperture / max shutter speed is a factor here ?
Can these p&s shoot video indoors? Does the ISO get adjusted for video ?
I was looking at the Nikon Coolpix L18 (http://www.vistek.ca/store/DigitalCameras/235822/nikon-coolpix-l18-matte-black-digital-camera.aspx), and other similar cameras in that price range performance
What advantages do the cheapest camcorders have over the p&s cameras in video mode? (longer recording time / battery life I would imagine is one)
Any further tips / info / links, advice greatly appreciated.
Mike
