Hi Guys n Gals,

Thought of opening a thread as to find out what is the best engine and electronic setup for a 50 and 90 size nitor helis?

My setup for a 50
Hitec 6975 servos (Futaba BLS351)
Futaba 401 with 9254 (Spartan DS760 w/ BLS251)
OS 50 Hyper (can't beat the best)
Hatori (Align 50 Pipe, more power but it's louder)
Futaba GV1 (MultiGov Pro)
I guess the new TT redline seems to be good, i havent tried it, but thats what i've read, Your opinion appreciated

My 90 Setup
Futaba 9255 servo (Good if you are doing FAI/F3C, they center great. If you want max power, 8717 or BLS351)
Futaba 601 with 9256 (Again, great for FAI/F3C, but a Spartan DS760 is better)
YS 91SR (Great motor, I'm holding out for the OS 91 HZ)
CY MP5 (YS doesn't like the MP5 so much, look at a Hatori)
Multi Gov (Pro version is the only improvement)

My 90 Vmax setup
Futaba 9252 servos
Futaba 601 iwth 9256
Y:S 91 ST
Funtec Muffler
Futaba GV1

My comments in red above. Not saying the 8717 is a bad servo, but I've been getting multiple reports from pilots on centering issues, slop and general failure. Of course, the same people are running them at 8v and that's an issue regardless of servo. I don't run my servos past 6v.

The Spartan DS760 is by far the best gyro I've ever flown and I've flown them all. I'd have to put the Logitech 6100 as a close second with the GY611 right behind that.

Well most of the good servos are in the $100 bracket so i guess... I will be going in for the better than i have.

Thanks ClayK. Thats some information you gave me onthe 8717. I'm right now looking at getting myself another gyro, so i guess i'll go for the spartan. Which servo would you suggest for the spartan.

Thanks & Regards,
Adarsh

Ditto.

Unless you want the "hotness", that would be the JR 8900G. I doubt you will detect the .01 sec response increase. (BLS251 is .06 and the 8900G is .05). I'm running 3 of these setups on my models. A Stratus, 600E and a Vibe 50 (formerly on a 600N)

Problems at 8V, eh? I think I'll give them a go with unregulated A123 packs.

Cheers!
