Can anyone confirm that there is in fact no way to set the tail gyro gain via the software in this configuration?
I know that the 3GX wants to use AUX1 as the govenor and AUX2 as the gyro gain and that the DX6i does
not have an AUX2 channel (normally 7).
You are supposed to be able to use the USB cable/software to set the gain manually, but I can't get it to work! Several forum posts state the they were unable to do this and had to use an external reciever :(
Has anyone had any success at this or am I in fact screwed...
Wonder what a used DX6i is worth in trade for a dx7 ??

Can't you set it under the "Setting Display" tab in the 3GX software?

That's what I expected to be able to do, but the gain is pegged at 120 and when I try to override it (either by typing in the box or by dragging the slider) it just jumps back to 120 :( How did your first 3gx flight go??

Haven't flown it yet, should get it programmed this week and in the air before the week is out.

Sadly, I'm dead in the water until I figure out what to do about the 6 channel issue :( I will probably end up using an external ar6200 reciever with the 3GX. I guess it's either that or upgrade to a DX7 radio.

I have decided to use the external ar6200 temporarily at least... Another club member might be interested in selling he dx8 for a decent price in a couple of weeks if the price is right I will go that route and remove the external reciever.

Let us know how you get on, it would be great to see a photo of how you have it hooked up.

I will post an update to the 3x/3gx upgrade thread when I'm finished (later this evening I hope). Look forward to hearing how your first flight goes too.

Been a busy week but I just finished wiring up the BECpro. Still planning on getting it in the air this weekend.

I did, but only briefly. Too many other things have been getting in the way. The two short flights I did get on there were pretty uneventful, I need to do some tweaking and see if I can fine tune it a little more.
How's yours doing?

I have flown a few times now on the buddy box. The heli was flying pretty well, but from time to time would kind of spaz out.. Thought it was a build problem or an electronic problem, so kept trying to troubleshoot... I mentioned to my instructor that the sim was kind of doing the same thing and he thought it might be the radio that was the problem... As it turns out that was the problem... The collective jumps up 20% and back down very fast every minute or so. It's a DX6i. I have sent it off to spektrum for repair.
Was going to upgrade to a DX8 anyway, I guess now would be a good time ;)

Glad you got it figured out, troubleshooting electronics can be a real chore! I hear the DX8 is awesome, I'm sure you'll have fun with it!

I got a few great flights in on my 550 today, after it sitting on the back burner for a little while I was finally able to get it out. So far I'm very happy with it, 3GX is a big improvement over the old 3G system for sure.

I purchased a DX8 and reconfigured without a reciever. Our club had a fun fly on New Years Day.. The weather was perfect.. Temps in the 50's and calm. Flew several times gaining confidence a little. Need to spend more time on the SIM and with the mxpc though, still can't actually turn correctly :( but am improving slightly.
