My 400, which was scheduled to be delivered by FedEx today has been rescheduled for tomorrow. It is a used bird with minimal upgrading (ESC to a 35A).
What would be your suggestions for giving it a checkout and then working through the setup?

I check my Blade 400 before and after i fly it.
In Throttle hold i move the cyclic and collective to all extremes of motion to make sure there's no binding in the head. If there is you may want to consider altering the swash mix.
Check tension in the belt drive: you should be able to (finger strength(gentle)) push the belt just to the center of the boom.
Check the plastic frame for any damage to it.
You should be able to pass a piece of paper between the pinion and main gear without tearing it for proper lash.
All that and more in the Blade 400 Bible (http://www.slyster.com/heli)

I will be posting a complete rebuild thread today - still working on the videos though. I totaled mine, so I'll be showing how to rebuild it from the ground up, and how to set up the radio and everything. Might be a while though - I'm a little OCD and I already have 35 minutes of video showing the parts you need and how to set up the work area, and remove the servos and replace the servo gears. It's detailed - stay tuned, I'll post parts of it as I get them done. Otherwise, the suggestions you've been given are probably all I would check. Just go over it visually really well and make sure nothing is broken, then spool it up - the B400 is loud, but it should sound fairly smooth and there should be no vibrations after it spins up. If there is a problem, figure out what it is - these are sensitive creatures and they will bite you if anything is wrong.

Blade 400 vs. Axe 400. Which one will hold up better?
