Hey fella's i am gathering all the parts needed to finish up my rex 450. I have Hitec HS-65 MG's for the swash and a Futaba 401 gyro. I prefer to stick with Hitec servos. What would be the best choice for a tail servo?

I have a JR DS3400G running off of my 401, it holds really well.

Thank you for the reply but perhaps i was not clear enough. I prefer to use a Hitec servo on the tail also.

I use the Hitech HS-56HB with my 401 and it is really responsive

i want a new tail servo too
and i love hitec, i think futaba is overused:D
the HS-5083 seems promising
.07 speed at 4.8V
so it's going to be great on 5 or 6v

As far as I've noticed, most heli guys like Futaba or JR for the tail. Either way, just make sure you get something fastl, unless you plan to fly scale.

I like the looks for the HS-5083. That just might be the ticket.

I am using a Hitec HS-5083 with my 401 and it is just as good as any of the futaba tail servos i have used.

5083 is a great choice, but you should definetly search around. The 3400G servo is also a great choice along with the Futaba 9650 (which i run) and love!

I'm running the 56hb, not the best but it works fine with barely any kick.

I don't think the 401 will work with the 5083, as the pulse width is wrong. You'd need the 5084, which I don't think is actually available.

or you could get the 9257, either servo works fine for me
i like the 9257 more since it seems a little faster
but the hitec, i can feel that the tail stops where i want it to stop

Going to order the HS-5083 and need one more HS-65MG, then I will have all the equipment needed to put her together. Let the fun begin....

Update on the HS-5083MG. I ordered the tail servo today but learned that the HS-5083MG is what it is labeled in the Hitec gyro package. To buy that particular servo seperately I had to order an HS-5085MG.
