So just for a bit of discussion, what parts would you put into this heli if you were getting it?

I am thinking:
AR9100R
DS8317's x 3
g7703d w/ds8900g
YS91 (Not sure on muffler choices yet)
Radix 710's

Debating on the CF frame option

Either way, can't wait to get it into my hands!!!

Out of curiosity - why the 710's?

Can't honestly say that I have much reasoning behind the blade size, short of seeing many 90 pilots in the area using 710's. As far as the Radix, simply because that is what I have used on my EVO 50 and I love them so far. Any recommendations?

I'm using 690's on my XSpec, beacuse I found that it rolled a lot quicker than 700's....

Honestly this is going to be my first 90 class heli. I am going with the brands of parts that have treated me good in the past. One exception to that is the motor. The only experiece I have with the motors is with the OS 50 hyper. But since most of the people that I have met seem to run the YS in their 90's I figured it couldn't be a horrible choice.

I honestly won't be able to fly this heli to its potential. If it weren't for the generosity of MRC/Hirobo I wouldn't even be getting another heli, however I won the Turbulence in a raffle drawing.

With that being said, I take any and all advice on parts and setup to heart!!

The YS91 is an awesome engine, I had an OS91 way back when, but had nothing but problems with it. Since switching out for a YS it hasn't missed a beat :)

Good choice on the YS. You can't go wrong with radix blades. Have you received the heli yet? I am curious to see it.

Received the D3 yesterday. Was up till early in the morning starting the build. Taking a break right now from building it. Taking lots of pictures of the build. Will post some as soon as I get them on the computer. Up to this point the build is going absolutely wonderful. Every part fitting just as it should. I have only built one heli from kit prior to this, my EVO 50, and I thought that was nice. This kit is so much nicer to build it isn't funny. Currently putting the head together and having some problems, but I am sure it is something I am doing. The blade grips are binding when tightened down. Have tried adding and removing shims, but no avail. So now pull it back apart again and make sure the bearing are installed correctly and see what goes from there.

The bad news is that I don't have the funds for a motor and muffler or blades right now. Unfortunately other life issues have come up that require the money more than my hobby. I'm sure everyone knows how that goes. I think I am going to rob the electronics from my EVO to run the D3. All I can say is that I hope the economy shapes up really soon!!

I am waiting on my frickin slow computer to save the pictures from memory card now. If there are any certain pictures you would like to see, just let me know, I will be more than happy to snap them.

Wow what a small world. Nice seeing you in this forum Nate. BTW, nice pictures of your Turbulence D3. She's coming along just fine. Take your time on her and she'll fly like a star. :) :D
