Its been around for a while now. But it appears to not have been all the popular. The problems i was hearing about when i was looking into them, was that they had very little power.

I do drive 1/10 scale cars with .15 engines, and have a hard time believing that.

If you do consider buying this thing, keep in mind that support may be limited. But be sure to post vids/pix, as i still want one of these little guys. :)

I wonder if it sounds like 1/10 scale car with rotors? :D

Hmmmm, might be a full time idle up heli...... For the price I might pick one up if for nothing else....Cool Factor:D
Its just slightly larger than the 450 class correct?

Its a 500-class, so yah, alittle larger.

These are old... so they may be hard to find. Heliproz had one for a while... they go under a few different names.

P.S. I have not heard of anyone doing more than sport flying with this. Don't buy if your looking for a 3d machine.

Actually is says it swings 360mm blades which would make it a little larger than a Trex 450.....Ron

I think I'll give one a try.. and as for 3D, every Heli is 3D capable! read sig below lol vvvvvvvvvvvvvv

Please post back with what you find out. I've had a LA .15 laying around that I thought would make a perfect motor for my blade 400... Guy and I talked about it forever but the project never made it out of the "talk" phase... would love to hear how this works out for you! Thanks.

Thats awesome, I've been researching the same for my Trex 450 but cannot find a clutch/ pinion for it lol

Here is a better view of the heli and some docs..

THis is the one heliproz used to carry.

Short video is included as well.

I considered it also but was a little skepticle because I know what a pain it is to keep little micro nitro engines running true. It would make a neat little backyard flyr though. If you pick one up keep us all posted. That may be reason enough for me to grab one. As far as parts...mods are easy enough to deal with and always fun.

Small nitro engines are a breeze these days.

http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/15101/

This engine has to be the easiest ever... starts on the first pull, everytime, and only has 1 needle.

HPI is a very well known and trusted company for offroad and 1/10th scale cars, if the name isn't familiar to you.

Pull starts can be removed, if the GP500 is a wand start. ;)

Edit: Woops, look like a 2 needle, but there are single needle motors from HPI.

Yes I understand that, but this tiny engine will be in the air with alot less strain on it and alot higher rpm. I've been running nitro engines for 20 years and yes I have heard of hpi one to many times. OS on the other hand is in my opinion above any hpi engine on the market. And if you would like to go into enya thats a different story. You have to look at it from a different view point, tiny engine...tiny carb. For example, if you were to take a .30 and drop a bug into the carb while running full rpm, its gonna sputter and keep on runnin. But if you do the same to a .15, consider your machine a deadstick! I have had my share of nitro engines in all sizes, k&b, os, enya, mds even quite a few of the chinese brands with the exhaust port so small you have to port the engine to get full potential. I'm not saying that a small nitro engine would just be pointless, just that you have to stay on top of it and expect the unexpected. It would really be a blast to have an os 12 in one of my mini-titan's. I'm not knocking nitro by no means, as long as people don't make it sound as simple as opening the box and fly.

Sorry, last comment on this thread, promise :)

HPI is by far the easiest i have ever run. I did not mean to make it sound like i was talking down to you. There are many beginners here that would like that info. Many of whom have never heard of HPI.

G'day!

No problem, I did'nt take it that way. My response was a little strong, its just that i've owned over 40 heli's and have done some serious testing with different setups. I would really like to have a 350-400 size nitro heli. I don't see much in the future of them being mass produced or even popular with our current technology and efficiency of electric machines. We've really come along way in a few short years. I learned to fly heli's without a gyro, and yet a few years later the heli's almost fly themselves! I know some would read that statement and call me crazy but take a look and do some research on the past electric/nitro rc heli's and electronis! I give alot of respect to my fellow flyrs like Bob Finless who have stepped up to not only tell but show and help people get started. Seven years ago mini nitro's would have taken off if they would have been introduced properly.

But you will always have fools like me who will buy one for cool factor:D Was hoping the Black hawk was around 450 size myself.
I'm kicking around the idea of using a .15 in my Trex, think I have found a solution to the clutch/pinion issue.......Belt drive! Think i'm going to go start a new thread on this

A .15 seems kind of small for that size heli.

Crack kaos!!!

a .15 small.. think a .30 swings 550 mm blades on a rappy tappy and a 15 swinging 360's... A nice pair of rotortech 350's and some HS 65 MG's with a spartan gyro would make this thing a sweet little nitro heli...

I'd like to see something the size of a Gaui with a tiny micro nitro engine!!

Like I said before, it would have to be powered by a .049 Cox engine or maybe an even smaller Cox engine.
