Vibe 500? Oh Toro you get any sneek pics of that bad boy? I sure love the way Ryan's Vibe 50 flys like its on rails.. Almost as good as my R90.

Any preference on size? I had a chance to fly an Align 600 this weekend and it is great.

I saw it in Snohomish. It looked well built and fun to fly.

If I were to get a new 450 class I would look at the Outrage RC G5 on a 6S 1500mah setup.
If you are looking at a 500 class machine than the trex 500.

I want to stay smaller than 500.
Yea... the outrage was a hit this weekend... Those bad boys were tearing it up.... Miniature AC also has a new one coming out being distributed by Great Planes I believe.

Next question. What kind of batteries do you own or are you willing to run. 3S, 4S or 6S?
ConRadical

I actually have a bunch of 3s for the plankers, most or TP pro 2200s. But if i have to jump to 4S i can do that.

If you wire some of those 3S in series you could use those in G5.
Also a Protos, from MS Heli, Readyheli stocks these.
These both run 400 to 450 mm blades.

You know, I hardly have time to build right now.... what do you guys think about the RTF Blade 400?

Any recommended upgrades?

I don't think there are many upgrades for the B400. Horizon has some bling parts for it...'bout all I've seen.
The latest RCHeli Magazine did another quick article on thiers. They upgraded the servos and put a JR 7703D gyro on it.
Good little bird.

It would also allow me to use my current batteries.

I love the Blade 400. It's easy to fix and parts are easy to find. I think the price is perfect too. I'm new at this so I'm not sure if I'll want something elts soon, but for now I really like it.

It'll also be a nice try on the JR... I've always used Futaba.

You consider the Beam E4 yet?
I've had many different 450's from the Trex 450 to the Mini-Titan, and a few others, and must say that the Beam E4 beats them all.

It all really depends on price. If you do not want to spend $350 for servos and a gyro, then you need to stay with the Blade 400. Otherwise the beam, Trex 450, Trex 600, Logo400 will all cost you upwards of $1000 by the time you buy everything to keep it in the air. This my advice to you, get the Blade 400, get good and save your dough and then research bigger badder helis. That way you can get into helis cheap, the repair costs will be cheap and you will have a better working knowledge of helis by the time you are ready to upgrade. Hope this helps and good luck!......Ron

Everyone seems to be suggesting either an incredibly expensive machine or a cheap RTF. How about something like a Dragonus II, Screamer, HDX, SJM, Mini Titan, Zoom, etc... So many choices. Personally I really like the SJM helis. The Dragonus looks good, too. Great quality at a decent price. They look to be really durable, too.
Since I like submicros my next may be an EP200 or SJM180.

YOu realize I had really NO pressing desire for another small electric but this thread got me to thinking why dont I have a 450 anymore. I enjoyed flying it it was cheap on parts it taught me a ton. I really like the 500 class but I'm willing to wait for this next breed of 500 to clear the market and take there lumps. So I'm cruising the hobby shop and there is this new black box I havent seen before.. Minature Aircraft "Fusion"! Ah Man how the heck am I going to get this by the wife.. All those little bags of parts are screaming out for me..:blockhead: Sometimes reading all these post bites you right in the ARSE!

Buy it. Get a shopping bag. Take everything out of the box and stick it in a shopping bag. Throw the
box away. Tell your wife you got a deal from, a homeless heli flyer, on a bag of parts. ;):D

LOL! I'm getting ready to move, which will make me homeless in a transitory sense...
LOVE my Blade 400. My friend, who had a really blinged-out one that had some of that factory bling fail in flight, got it as part of his warranty claim. Sold it to me for $300. Brand new, unflown. Ironically, the replacement was a victim of the DX6i problem despite the fact the radio wasn't listed on the recall, so Horizon sent me a new one at the end of June, all tested, set and ready to go. I have at least fifty flights on the "replacement's replacement" without so much as a hiccup. It is still 100% as-delivered (knock on wood). Flew two packs through it just this morning, in fact.
Our club president and my friend with the bling each did the servo and gyro upgrades. My friend the prez says the difference is like night and day, but he doesn't fly very aggressively. I'm not terribly aggressive either, but I do a lot of fast forward flight and the occasional pirouette and chandalle where he does not. He mostly hovers and does some limited forward flight. I have no problem getting it to do what I want it to do on the stock setup and the servos are holding up admirably.
Can't complain; I managed to inherit a few stock servos!

You really should look up the Dragonus II, its a great heli, super quality and flies better then my other helis including my trex 450. And I've heard that Horizon Hobbies may start distributing for them so parts would be really easy to get
