What gyro are you using? What exactly do you mean by "out of whack" on the pitch?

On the 401 you have two cables, one plugged into the rudder and one plugged into an aux channel. To set the gain remotely you use the travel adjust/end point adjust on the radio that matches the channel you plugged that second cable into. If I remember correctly, 0 to 100 is heading hold and -100 to 0 is rate mode. Mine is set to +37 for HH and -33 for rate mode.

My throttle curve for normal mode is 0-70-100, and for Idle up is 100-90-100. My pitch curve is linear in all modes, 0-50-100 and is mechanically set to be 0 pitch at mid stick (which means you hover around 3/4 stick) You may want to increase the midlle setting until you can hover around mid stick.

I don't have the same radio so I can't show you the settings. Try increasing the travel adjustment a few percent and see what effect it has on the heli. If it wags more then go the other way. A little trial and error and you should be able to dial out the wag.

STill wagging it is fine in rate mode but in HH mode the tails is wagging back and forth about an 1/2 inch.

Did you go through the entire range on the end points? If it didn't change anything make sure that you're adjusting the correct channel relative to where the gyro is plugged into.
