The Nall was amazing as usual! The heli flight line really increased in size this year. Our friends from Castle were there as well as a score of other heli pilots. All forms of RC helis were represented. There were helis that ranged from 3D to scale and everything in between. I walked the line and took as many photos as possible so if you weren't there you can get an idea of what flying a helicopter at Joe Nall is like. Enjoy!

The heli line rocked! Being perched up on the hill with the ability to fly beneath your feet was a lot of fun. For the most part the pilots seemed to enjoy the new line, and you KNOW that next year will be even better! There was more than double the heli pilots from last year, and I'm sure there will be more next year as the heli line continues to grow.
Some of the highlights for me was watching Marcus Kim laying down some smack, an awesome scale Jet Ranger, and watching the turbine fly around!

I'll have more photos to upload on Tuesday and I think CSpaced has some photo coverage for us as well!

There were a few TRex 700's and 600's with the flybarless setup, and I asked the pilots how they felt about the change. Most said they liked the flybarless setup as it felt more stable, and of course there were fewer moving parts which translates into better efficiency.
As well as the guys from Castle being there, I got to talk to the guys from RCHeliworkz.com. They were great guys, and Devin let me take the sticks of his 450 pro to try it out. He was running a Spartan Quark gyro, and the tail was super solid! Devin said he would make me a believer, and he was right! Slow piro rates were very smooth, with no speeding up and slowing down, reverse flips didn't require any rudder correction, and tail slides were straight as an arrow! Thanks again Devin for letting me try it out.
