The mSR looks awesome from the multitude of videos online and would be a great park flyer. I'm not too sure I have the room inside the house to accommodate. Looks extremely responsive compared to the mCX coaxial and the AC/DC 4-port battery charger is a huge step in the right direction compared to the charger supplied with the mCX.

My mCX has got more mileage on it than the village bicycle - and its still going strong! If the mSR is half as good as the mCX, it will be a winner for sure. I agree that the charger that comes with the mSR is a huge improvement, definately a step in the right direction as stated.

My brother has bought me one for Christmas so look forward to getting a new toy. I have the mcx now and it's a good machine to learn on, but I'm looking forward to one a bit more responsive.

I have one but think I need another. The only other heli that I have flown is the MCX. I was a little nervous with the MSR but after a few butt puckering moments, I had it under control. I can't wait to take it outside when it gets a little nicer!

I'd LOVE to get one of these after the local hobby-shop guy demo'd one for me. But, short of winning this or mugging someone for theirs, I'm afraid I'll have to make due with the walcopter for the moment. Might get some blow money in February, but not enough for this bird...

I actually had the chance to play with one of these at the hobby shop, but the trims may have been a bit off, to put it charitably. Still, what a rush! A bind-and-fly would be a really fun addition to the fleet; adding some expo on my DX6i would likely make this the most fun indoor flyer in history. My much-loved Axe Micro might not get as much stick time.

Jim, I hope to see you at the AMA on Saturday! You interviewed me for the internet TV feed in '08 and I gave you directions to Disneyland. :)

Bill,
How much practise did you have on the Hummingbird? I'm asking, because I'm at the same stage - can only hover tail in on my FP Honeybee. Just wondering if the MSR would be fun to fly. (Hope I win it on monday!)

Currently getting the hang of the Blade CX3. Love it so far. How different is the mSR to fly?

This looks like an awesom bird. I've been eyeing it since it's release, and I like the bind and fly option for those who have their own radios.
It's definately on my wish list, but I'll have to wait for time and money to meet somewhere in the middle. LOL
Cheers! BH

Hi everyone!

I was actually contemplating a Blade MSR as my first step into choppers, and I saw the "win" link over at RC Groups, so here's my first post! :D

Would this indeed be a good first chopper?

on the hummingbird i only did tail in hovers. never really got to anything else. even trimming the thing was tough. i would hover indoors, and outside in dead air. i would only say a lil more than a 12 flights. last one destroying my blades and a couple other things... i actually dug it out though and plan on repairing everything, and giving her a go.

the msr has given me so much confidence its unreal! from my last post i can already nose in hover no problem. i can fly fast figure 8's in real forward flight in any room in my house, and anywhere in ff. not that moving sideways roll stuff. i dont even bail out when i lose control for a bit, i generally can regain it quick enough regardless of orientation. the only bad side to that is i thought i could save it the other day but the light came up too fast... so i cracked my first set of blade grips... they still work though with a lil ca glue. this heli is great! i cant wait to see it they do a cp version... blade mcp?!? that would be so awesome, the msr's durability and stability in a cp version!

The mSR is definately a confidence builder!

What did you mean when you said, "not that sideways roll stuff"? Are you just using elevator and rudder to do your figure 8's and not incorporating aileron input?

BTW, there is a 700+ page thread about the mSR on RCgroups... Hope it doesn't offend anyone that I mention that. But it could answer many questions that pilots may have.

lol. it would move as slow as the mcx with no aileron input... of course i do! i meant i dont do the "learning to fly around the around the room with the tail in line 8's. my new fav thing to do are top speed "climbs." fly top speed, climb lower throttle, then 180 with rudder, punch the throttle and and race back across the room and do it again, and again , and again...

Currently getting the hang of the Blade CX3. Love it so far. How different is the mSR to fly?

The mSR is very different than the CX3. The CX helis will help you get your orientation skills but as soon as you lose that second main rotor the game changes. The biggest difference that I noticed was that the co-ax helis have a built in stability from the second main rotor. You can get going a certain speed but then the heli regulates itself to that top speed.

The mSR on the other hand just keeps getting faster in forward flight. So, with the mSR you'll have to learn to manually regulate your speed a little better which is what the co-ax heli did for itself.

That being said, the mSR is a blast. Grab yourself one once you've gotten comfortable with the CX3. It's indoor flight on steroids.

I use my MSR all time when its raining outside and vary to windy to go out and fly the nitro helis. best thing is you keep your fingers in a routine. Its great!

speak of the devil! I been looking at the Blade mSR and just came here to CrackRoll to see if any discussion about it.
It would be my first heli, I flew a friends Blade CX 2 with no problems and wonder if I can jump right to a mSR.

I would be very excited to win one! http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/images/smilies/bananajump.gif
