Just to compare props, I put a 4530 GWS prop on one HB and a 4025 on the other HB and they both seem to work the same. The 4025 may sound a little more wicked and to me, it looks like the type of prop that would be on a real heli....the 4530 looks like a airplane prop.....but, as I said they both work equally well.

I fly bigger cp heli's but I did have one of the little hb fp's awhile back and I sure do miss it. I'd like to build another with a few mods. Maybe the fiber frame ddtail all brushless just to play around with in the backyard and in the house. I got the bug so bad for one again i've got a ton of stuff up for sale on ebay, here and rcgroups:headinthewall: under evlfkrjohn:) I don't know what it is about the hb fp I just want another.

I keep thinking about getting a cp heli but I have my HBs flying so good and I really enjoy being able to just fly in my backyard. Plus I keep hearing people say that they still enjoy flying their HB, some more than their bigger helis

Here's another vote for the HBFP. I've also got a Blackhawk 500, a Honeybee King II, and a Compy FP but the the Honeybee still gets most of the flight time. With the others, a crash usually means more parts and work to get it flying again. When I crash the Honeybee, all I usually have to do is set it right side up and fly it some more.

I broke down an ordered a fiber frame and tail fin set, as well as a compy canopy, carbon fiber boom, dd tail setup and a set of m24 blades! I guess i'll be building a fp heli instead of buying one. I really dont need this thing but it just seems like so much fun. I spent the better part of 15 years in helis with cp and probably won't be able to fly the fp but i'm gonna give it a shot! I figure if all else fails I can stick cp2 parts on it and set the fp stuff to the side!

I saw those, I just like the look of the compy canopy better. I kept a canopy from my last compy cp to use on my cp2 and it changed the whole look of it.

I was hoping to build a compy fp or similar but only if I thought it could take a hit like my fp can now. If it ends up bending up lots of stuff, I may hold off. I've been auguring this bad boy in the dirt for the last 3 days and I can't kill it.

Hi,
Now I'm stumped. My Honeybee FP started recently slowly (and faster if you keep it in the air) tail spinning to the right, counter clockwise. I've changed tail blades as the others were worn down some. No luck. I've tried adjusting the 4 in 1 no luck but maybe I'm doing it wrong. I've changed tail motors wondering if it wasn't powerful enough, no luck but maybe I got a bad one. And main blades and no luck. Could I have a bad 4 in 1 or maybe got a bad tail motor. Both tails I was using were spinning but not sure if they're fast enough. The servos seem to move properly. Any help please!!!
Thanks

Hmmm...first check and make sure that the tail wire plug isn't reversed in polarity(If you have removed it recently) Second, make sure that your tail gear and prop are seating together with the tail motor. Third, make sure that you're adjusting the proportional pot on the 4n1 and not the gain pot. If these things do not fix your problem, you more than likely either have a bad motor or 4n1! Is the motor getting power or is the tail blade just spinning in the wind as the heli goes around? LMK after you check these things! I'm monitering this post, so i'll be here awhile!

I have to dust off my HBFP. Those stock canopies are so fragile. Is the DD tail a worthwhile upgrade?

DD is definitely worth it. I went to DD when I had a Slo-Max motor on my Falcon40 (HBFP clone). It also worked well with the brushless motor conversion I installed. Plenty of power, and I got loads of flights out of it. I killed the heli before I killed that tail motor.

I shelved my HBFP in Sept. '07 after learning to kinda fly it since March '07, and it pretty much sat there while I: struggled with a CP2; nearly gave it all up after a traumatic experience with an MX400; finally learned to really fly with a King 2; and started really grooving with a TREX 450. It served again for a little while as my protege's trainer, then he got a BeltCP.
I just got the FP back into flying shape. I forgot how much I missed it. Flying a TREX kinda messed me up for the FP, but talk about no-pressure flying! I'll nose-in 'til I can almost feel the blades brush my hair, and catch it mid-air by the tail boom (neither recommended). Circles in my tiny front yard...all things I could never do with the the 'Rex. I'm even flying it with the original Esky TX that came with the RTF kit.
It's not stock, but it's not souped-up either.
Home made head stiffener
SuperSkids
CP2 3in1
King 2 RX
Esky 1000mah/10C 3S LiPos

All else is stock.
Anybody else recently rediscover the joys of FP?

I have not flown mine in awhile may have to dust it of and take if for a spin been flying my 450 a lot. There is a field and the end of the street and can walk a 40 yards and fly. So I spend a lot of time with the 450 next calm day will have to take the fp with me and give it some air time. Have a great day Rick

My nephew just got the Honeybee fp 2.4 gz from Xheli for Christmas and I haven't seen it but over the phone he described what is is or isn't doing. At first the rudder wouldn't do anything until he reversed the rudder switch. Then the whole thing took off on him and crashed. So he opened the back and messed with switches and now has it where the throttle on the left stick is proper but the rudder is reverse but works. The right stick forward and backward are proper but the left and right are reverse. To me it almost sounds like they gave him a mode 1 TX. Can anyone advice what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks

Hi all
Got the "flying tank" for a couple of months :)
SuperSkids, Lipos, Heat Sink on the tail. Everything else is stock. Still flies good though.
Great trainer - it think will stick with me for quite a while, even after a get a bigger CP

Not sure about the mode 1. He would've felt it straight away with a ratcheted right stick (instead of the left one). BTW it's not too hard to check - just ask him where the ratchet was when he got it.
Could be a wrong wiring on the heli itself. I had a similar issue when I installed the Superskids - apparently it's possible to flip over the connectors that connect the motors (tail and main) to the 4-in-1, so they get power with reversed polarity. I'll post the proper wiring tomorrow.

P.S. Had a few hard crashes this weekend so I decided ti get rid of the flybar weights and get a few mods. So I'm going to have a metal-headed FP in a couple of weeks... :)

A friend is sending me his old modded HBFP V1 this week. I can't wait to fly it! It's on a basic GuruZ frame, got the Slomax 300 motor, DD HBCP3 tail motor, and Xtreme blades. I think there was one or two other things on it but I can't recall what he said. Just a stock HBFP head on it for now. That may have to change soon, but to what I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

I added the cnc head by micro heli but didn't care for it much. The tolerances weren't as good as the orginal Esky parts.

Hello…hello…hello (echoing)
Wow…this small thread has been dead for over a year. What a shame, my favorite birds (yes birds, I have quite a few of them) is the Esky Honey Bee, both the V1 and V2. Even though I have a few bigger helicopters now I still fly my Bees more than anything else. I guess it’s mainly because of the size of my yard and the fact that I’m too lazy to find a field big enough to really enjoy my 450s. Anyways…for the past few years I have been crashing, flying, fixing and modding my Bees and have had a great time doing so…Sooo even though it’s a year later, I will answer your call Heli Maddness and post some pictures of a few of my HBs

Yeah, ever since I got my first Honey Bee V1 I’ve been hook on these little fixed pitch birds. I really never used a sim to learn how to fly (long story), so the Honey Bee in a way was my real life trainer and since I like to tinker, me and the Bee made a perfect combination. I think I’ve done every mod there is for the Bee at one time or another and even came up with a few of my own. The Bee is simple and tough and in my book it’s still a real rc helicopter with a 90 degree flybar that can be flown outside and is a perfect trainer to teach someone basic flying skills and with the right mods it’s can be a great yard ripper. My problem is, no matter how much I try, I cant end my love affair with the Bee. lol! I have a few 250s and 450s now and they are awesome and of course they out perform the Bee 100 to 1, but I still spend 70% of my free time messing around and flying my Bees…What to do…what to do…I think I need a intervention. lol!
