So this may end up being a silly question, but here goes.
Lately I have seen comments about doing a reversal, or tail reversal. I have seen that mentioned in relation to gyro holding power, and sometimes to stripping gears! Is this simply pirouetting one way, then abruptly reversing the direction?

Yes it is as far as I know any way that's how we swing the term at my feild. As far as striping the servo they must be throwing it harder than I can.

yep, piro reversals are when you reverse the direction. Most people are better going one way or the other, and if you can do maneuvers like piroflips, piro funnels, piro loops, etc switching up the piro direction at given intervals, you are a king! Some of the most intense flying you could try would be hard piro maneuvers with lots of reversals. Done correctly, its hard to even catch; doing super fast reversals leads to the talk about stopping power and precision, acceleration, and stripped gears ...
