CrackRoll.com editor Aaron Shell submits another great thead:

Most of us do it, and for some of us, its the only type of flying taking place. Any time you sneak a flight in your front yard, you're renegade flying. If you get a flight in at a school yard, you're renegade flying. If you put your bird in the air at a park, you're renegade flying. If you fly anywhere other than a designated flying field, I define that as renegade flying. I do not consider it a bad thing, its just my group's catch phrase for, "hey lets go flying somewhere we can do what we want and we won't get hassled by the airplane guys." For some, renegade flying may be their only option, and many got into helis in the first place because you can take advantage of tight areas. Helis can fly off rough terrain too, where planes are limited to smoother surfaces in most cases. I was doing some renegade flying myself at a local church. We (a small, unorganized group of flyers) have permission to fly on their back field pretty much any time other than Sundays, and its a great spot. Its often impractical to work out permanent arrangements to welcome everybody and establish a club, but people are often able to fly off open areas without creating a problem.

I just wanted to lay out a few tips to help make renegade flying safer for everybody. If you always try to operate your model safely, you will also help secure your flying area for yourself and others. If you have more ideas, please post them, these are just a few thoughts, not the definitive safety manual!
