I'd say that guy Sleepyc, especially if it helps me win the tx..:D Really though, I am new to the heli scene just been flying them for 6 months. I have not learned names yet but I've watched some video's and there's a lot of talent out there!

Sleepy,
This one is easy Nick Maxwell. Put him in a smackdown contest and watchout. No one can touch him with a 450 machine. Judging by IRCHA the .90 size contest are about to be all Maxwell's House also.

Nick Rocks...No question about it.

There were a TON of good pilots at IRCHA but some that seemed to stand out to me Daniel Katzav, Nick Maxwell, Matt Botos, Colin Bell, and that eight year old kid from Israel.

But I can think of like 10 more as well.

The Helicopter scene is getting so talented overall that the stand out guys are only like .001% better than some of the other guys.

Also... anyone get a chance to see Andrew Jeskey throw down on the 700?

WOW.

Thats a tough one for sure, there are so many awesome pilots out there. One of the coolest things I've seen is Curtis Youngblood flying knife edge in a circle down on the deck, actually striking the deck with the blades (accidentally) and then doing a few piro's to upright for a smooth landing. Is there nothing that can shake this dude?

As for innovative? Well this is more Kyosho than anything else, but I was talking to Wayne Mann about his F3C birds, and he has dual rudder servos set up on the boom in a push/pull configuration. This way if one of them fails he has a backup! Genious...

Push/Pull on a heli rudder, that is Genious! If I ever get to the state of being able to burn them out will have to try that one :D

Colin Bell and a local guy Bert Magnubua! I get to see Bert fly localy and some of the things he puts toghether are inspiring. I feel he has a good mix of big smooth and small choppy. He is a local so I am probally a hair baised. Colin is just nuts and the guy is really part time at this. If he ever goes full time "Forget about it"

I would say H to the C (Henry Caldwell) he seems to hold back when a camera is on him or when he is competing BUT if you catch him on the "right day" the things he does as the speed he does them is AMAZING! He was doing a test flight at IRCHA and asked me not to film him but I wish I would have ignored him because, it was hands down so of the most impressive flying I saw at IRCHA.... PERIOD.

I wouldn't say one pilot is better than another, each have their own distinctive styles. I can normally tell by blade sounds and maneuver changes. Depends on what you like. I'm partial to big flyers. So my favorites include Matt Botos, Malorie Zastrow, Jared Granzow and the old Charles Rosario. I also like Daniel J and HC for piro moves, both have introduced some interesting flight transitions. If you like low flying, Marcus Kim or Nick Maxwell. Oh yeah, Nir Mieri is another one of my favorites. Didn't get to see him this year since he's in the Israeli Air Force now.....

Each pilot brings something specific, but for the most part, those are my favorites above.

Henry Caldwell, hands DOWN.
Mother has some sick moves, then once you think you've seen it all, he reverses them.
Besides, He's the only guy I've climbed a tree for to retrieve a heli that wasn't my own. :)

H to the C Henry is unbelievable! I was there for the under the tent inverted auto! Fast and hard, and to this day his flying is one of the few that will just scare the crap out of you cause its on the edge! Marcus is also another favorite of mine. Matt Botos is awesome as well as Eric Larson (is he still around?)

I would have to throw in a vote for Bobby Watts, or Alan Szabo.

This isn't even a contest if you are including, innovation and design, JK wins hands down. Everyone else is just using the equipment he designed. He would be a true pioneer when all the other heli brands were content and counting their money he tried his own brand and was upset with quality and teamed up with a company where the owner had an interest in the hobby and the rest is done. Where else can you get a pro class heli with everything but gyro, servos, and RX in one box and it is all top gear for under 1000 bucks. Trex 600N Super Pro, all metal, o.s. 50, pipe, gov, reg, etc...

This topic needs to be in two subjects.

Who is the best current pilot...

Who has brought the most overall talent to the hobby...

Jason Krause is the reason Im here... That guy showed me the way, the light, the ever being @ Tucson shootout in 2005... He took my lil' ol raptor and made it whimper in a beat down like it never had. After that I said thats it...... I need to fly like that, and havent looked back since. Not to mention drinking beer with him @ Hooters til the whee hours in the morning.... that was good night.

H to the C - Henry Caldwell, Bobby Watts, Alan Szabo. They are all great in their own styles.

Sleepy...BIAS??? ME?? Besides the obvious reasons, he introduced me to helicopters. Not only is he a living 3D legend, but the impact he has had on heli design and products is unmatched by any other. To me that's why he deserves the crown, he doesn't just bang the sitcks around, he helps bring things to the hobby for everyone to enjoy!!

Toro--I know that night...that was the night the girls wrote all over him and he was sure he had found love!!

HAHAHA...I'm no hooters chick, but I'll have to do! ;)

Nothing says love like a sharpie tatoo....

Kyna... I think you can hold your own.

I do think Bobby Watts rolls hard... Henry C... haven't met him, or seen him much other than videos.... I have heard lots of killer tales though. Man, there are so many awesome guys. Each one brings a unique twist to the RC heli world... Thats why I like helis so much more....

Ahem. I am the greatest heli pilot. I'm so good they haven't even named the tricks I regularly do. Has anybody else ever put their heli back in the box by RC? Unfortunately, I can only do these aerobatics once, and nobody's ever taken a video. But, I am the greatest heli pilot on Planet Earth.
And, the most modest and humble and down-to-earth. And, I'd never lie to you.

I would have to say Bobby Watts or Alan Szabo and Lukas Riva,, I am partial to those guys that just straight lay it on the deck all the time, I mean just throw it down, I like the piro circles and high loops and such, but scraping blades and making the crowd ooh and ahh and cringe is were it is at,

Jason Krause!
There are so many good pilots out there, but when i see video's of JK I always get really exited. When he does the moves they seem more "smooth" and almost "relaxed". To be honest i get bored quickly watching 3d heli video's but not with JK video's for some reason.

No my vote goes to JK!

hmmmm, Jason Krause! Kyle Stacy, Alan Szabo, Christopher Youngblood. I don't know, there are too many great people out there who have different things that they are great at, but definitely Jason Krause, his vids rock.

My favorite used to be Alan Szabo but has recently changed to Jason Krause. He's untouchable with his skill, even to Alan. Not to mention JK is the creator of the T-Rex 700.
