I took the dive two weeks ago...

spektrum 6200 receiver
jr ds3517mg for cyclic
jr g770 3d gryo
jr ds3500g for rudder
stock power system (heard lots of good things about it)
torque tube (no static worries here)
yellow gear, paddles and tail blades (just had to make it look different)

I haven't bought a battery or charger yet; I'm thinking Evo Lite 2500 6s and cellpro 10s. Hopefully I'll be flying soon since I just started a new job and haven't found the time to finish build and setup.

p.s. this heli is sweet

Sounds good , I'm going with hitec hs-5245's and a 401 but haven't decided on the tail servo yet.

Can wait to build it.

its an awsome build my friend. the quality is in every part. get a good set of hex drivers for the screws tho. these are the only crappy parts and round out easy if you use cheap drivers or allens. i use dynomites. they work really well. i have the ar 7000 and spartan gyro. just waiting on servos. i may not get to fly it till late fall or spring wich really sucks but either way it is a very beautifull heli to just look and drool over. enjoy your build. you got one excelent heli

i have the cell pro 4 and just got the 10 yesterday for the 500. i wouldnt buy any other charger but cell pro. simple and safe. just the way i like it

The 500's are awesome, I got to check out a few and they are one solid little heli. Super smooth, TONS of authority, and excellent craftsmanship. What more could you want? :D

i just bought a 500 and have 5245mg on cyclic, 770 gyro and 3400 on tail... it was a super fun build

Yeah, the stock screws suck.

My current setup:
Futaba 9C radio
Stock motor with 13 tooth pinion
Stock ESC with 100% throttle curve
Futaba GY401 gyro w/ S9253 servo
Futaba S9257 cyclic servos
Zippy 6S 3300 Mah battery
Crappy 425mm "Z-weave" carbon blades I got from Hobbycity
No current mechanical upgrades or modifications

Future changes:
Radix Blades
CC PH 80 ESC (on it's way)
Scorpion Motor (haven't quite decided on which, but I'm thinking the 1400 w/18 tooth pinion and gov. set to 2800 rpm)
Align 3K tail blades (on their way)
DS760 gyro and Futaba BLS251 servo

RADIX BLADES!!??? were!? how!? how much!? I have them on my 450 and 600E and imo these are the best blades out there. I would love to have them on my 500!

Hey Robman

I am in the process of ordering my 500 and am looking forward to the build. Hopefully by the end of next week I should start.

Lemme know how you are making out. I have read several posts where people are complaining about those screws. Any suggestions on how to mitigate this problem? Order a better set of screws perhaps?

Dude... you'll love the 500.

Here's my setup:
500GF
S9650s cyclic
G7703D w/ 3500G
Stock ESC
Scorpion 1600 w/ 13T pinion
SAB 430mm blades
AR 7000
RDLohr Plexiglass gyro/rx mount and battery tray

This setup flies superbly! I do kinda wish I had gone Spartan. I also wish I had gotten it before the 600!!!!

Ya, I can't wait. :D

G7703D w/ 3500G
not sure about the cyclic only that they should have metal gears.
Looking to get it setup for 6sa123's but want to be able to run either 5s or 6s lipo's as well, not sure how that is going to play out.

So its not the screws its the tools?

Roger that!

Well... the screws aren't the best. But, add crappy wrenches to crappy screws and you get 2 x crappy. If you have good wrenches you are only 1/2 as crappy!

The heli really flies awesome though.

It's the screws. I went and bought new allen drivers after the first two screws striped out and still had no luck..
I'm finished with the build I'm just waiting for my blades and I'll get to try her out.
It's an easy build, easiest one yet.

I used the Align Hexagon Screw Drivers and didn't have any problems with the stock screws.

The Mavarik allen drivers work well, no stripped heads.
